Based near Belfast, McQuillan is an experienced freelance photojournalist working currently as a stringer for Getty Images specialising in news, sports, features and commercial assignments throughout Ireland and further afield.

 

His photographs have featured in noteworthy publications such as The New York Times, El Pais, Der Spiegel and The Washington Post and his work has also appeared on the front pages of the Times, the Guardian and the Daily Telegraph in the UK. He also accepts commissioned work from clients such as the BBC, the Wall Street Journal and the Los Angeles Times among others.

 

With almost thirty years worth of experience he is the winner of numerous UK awards, most notably the UK Picture Editor's Picture Essay of the Year 2018, the Press Photographer's Year Picture of the Year 2013 and four Photographer of the Year titles.
